Waitress

My name is Julia and I have been part of the Mecca team for one year. I started off as a Runner and am now a full time Waitress.

I start work in the mornings and a typical day for me at Mecca starts with setting up the restaurant for service and greeting our first Customers of the day. During the shift I manage a section in the restaurant taking Customer orders, sorting out payments, and looking after our guests.

I love that my job involves Customer interaction as I love talking, and there are so many different people to meet every day. The Managers respect their team and really look after us, and I love my team; we have a lot of fun and everyone is very considerate towards each other!

The benefits of working at Mecca for me are the stability that Mecca provides and the wages (which are never late!), the career opportunities, all the friends I have made at Mecca from all over the world… and of course the food!

Mecca really is ‘made for people’ and is a great place to work.

 


Head Waiter

My name is Tidashi and I am the Head Waiter and Trainer at Mecca Chancery. I have been with Mecca for approximately 3 years, always in the Front Of House team.

As Head Waiter/Trainer I am responsible for ensuring the Front of House is organized and that all the staff are trained. Part of my job is setting up the restaurant and always ensuring the environment is perfect and looks up to standard! I will often manage a section during busy periods, but I also act as Maitre’D and try to help the whole team when we get busy.

Training the staff is a big responsibility but is really important. It’s my job to train the team on the technical elements of the job; for example opening bottles of wine, setting the table, working with the menu and Customer Service.

The best thing about working at Mecca is the variety of people I get to meet. The team are from many different cultures, and our Customers are also very diverse. The location of Mecca is fantastic, and the great thing about Mecca Chancery (and many Meccas) is that we have a mix of inside and outside dining. I like working at Mecca because everyone is so friendly, I enjoy my job, and I like the product!

 


Front of House Manager

My name is Carissa and I am the Manager of the day shift at Mecca Viaduct. I have worked at Mecca for 2 years in this role, and love my job!

My job is to coordinate the restaurant and the Front of House team so everything runs smoothly. I also ensure that the restaurant is prepared for any functions or reservations, manage communication between our Front of House and Back of House teams, and support the floor staff during our busy service periods. I also have administration duties such as managing emails and phone calls, and provide training and coaching to my team.

The reason I love Mecca is that the management team is supportive and the atmosphere is fun. I like meeting new people everyday; Customers and also new team members, and the Viaduct is a fantastic location. Working at Mecca has a lot of benefits; support from Managers, employee talent is recognized and rewarded, and there is career development available for those who want it!

 


Barista and Bar Manager

My name is Cimi and I manage the outside bar at Mecca Chancery. I have worked at Mecca for 3 years now as a barista and bar tender, and love the interaction I have every day with all our Customers. My job involves everything from serving the Customers, making Mecca coffee and other drinks, stock control, and training other staff.

What I love about Mecca is the fun atmosphere and our Customers; we have a lot of regulars. It’s always busy and everyone is having fun, and the people who work here are great!

 


Kitchen Staff

Our names are Kevin (left) and Ejder (right) and we are part of the kitchen team at Mecca Viaduct. Both of us have worked at Mecca for approximately 3 years and enjoy being part of the kitchen team.

Our kitchen is one of Mecca’s busiest, and we have a large team of people from many different backgrounds. A typical day in the kitchen involves a lot of food preparation, then cooking the food for our guests! Each chef has a different role and we all work together as a team.

Our kitchen is a great environment for learning and there is plenty of training available and career options for people who want to get ahead. Given how busy we are there are few problems which is great!
